About Us |
|
After working for years as booksellers at Book Mark in Eugene, neither Amelia nor her former business partner was ready to give up bookselling when that store closed. When an opportunity was presented to start their own store, the two friends decided to give it a go. For almost three years now, Books Without Borders (BWOB for short) has been the go-to spot in Downtown Eugene for hard-to-find magazines, zines, new books ranging from fiction to current events to children’s books, and special orders. Located inside The Strand at the corner of 8th and Charnelton, Books Without Borders shares the building with Theo’s Coffeehouse, Indra’s Internet Café, and Cozmic Pizza. Upstairs you’ll find publishing company Wipf & Stock, and in the basement a secondhand bookstore with a theological focus, Windows Booksellers. Though James left the store in October of 2007 to teach English in Japan, Amelia continues to run the store with the occasional assistance of her husband Shawn, two new booksellers named Jonathan and Maggie, and various friends and family. The store remains committed to community and the experience of a good book. |
